Russian Railways commented on the statements of human rights activists that Ukrainian citizens, when buying a train or bus ticket to Belarus, are handed notifications of violations of the rules for crossing the border of the Russian Federation. As stated earlier in the Every Human Being project, such restrictions have no legal basis.

Warnings to Ukrainians that they may be “removed from the train” and fined are indeed being handed out, Russian Railways told RBC. The company explained this by informing.

According to the Russian Railways statement, according to the rules, only citizens of these two countries, or people with a residence permit, or following a certificate of return from a CIS country, can cross the Russian-Belarusian border by train. The same rules, as stated, apply to trips by car, since border control is not carried out between the Russian Federation and Belarus.

“The responsibility for the lack of proper documents lies with the passengers themselves,” is quoted from a comment by RBC.
