The case for Scottish independence is growing stronger by the hour. This was stated by the First Minister of autonomy Nicola Sturgeon in an interview with The Courier. According to her, this is happening because Scots are watching with horror the chaos in the political circles of the United Kingdom. “It is difficult to put into words the scale of the utter confusion in which the Tory party is now and, in turn, the scale of how dysfunctional the UK has become as a result,” Sturgeon admitted.
In her opinion, recent events increasingly show the need for an alternative to the modern political system in the UK. Sturgeon recalled that a referendum on Scottish independence had already been held in 2014, and then the Scots were persuaded to abandon it in favor of the strength and stability of the United Kingdom. But now, the politician is convinced, the Tories have lost the ability to govern the country. Sturgeon also said that the independence of Scotland in modern realities is a big challenge, but at the same time a huge opportunity.
