German Chancellor Olaf Scholz told the German daily Die Welt that Moscow has never threatened Berlin with an escalation of the crisis in Ukraine.

Scholz was asked if “Putin has ever threatened to escalate the conflict.” In response, the Chancellor said that the Western media freely interpret official reports about the negotiations between Germany and the Russian Federation.

Scholz said that “for good reasons” he does not report on the negotiations he is conducting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the same time, he noted that the reports he had read “about the alleged threats during these negotiations are false.”

Earlier, the German Chancellor warned about the risks that the introduction of marginal prices for Russian gas and oil entails. He believes that the decision on the “price ceiling” will result in a shortage of energy resources in the EU.
