The United States will not supply Kiev with a large number of HIMARS MLRS due to limited industrial capacity.
Referring to his source in the Pentagon, The New Yorker wrote about this on Sunday.
“We immediately said: “You will not get many such systems,” TNY quotes its interlocutor, who explained the refusal to Kiev as follows: “because they (MLRS HIMARS. – “MK”) simply do not exist in unlimited quantities on planet Earth”
The article notes that each such installation costs about 7 million US dollars.
According to experts, Ukraine spends more than 5 thousand missiles per month, while Lockheed Martin, which produces them, is able to make only 9 thousand units per year.
The Pentagon said that a similar problem arose with the air defense systems that Kiev requests. It is more technical than political: the United States does not have so many spare air defense installations to give them to Ukraine.
