In the Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia, Russian border guards are expected to be deployed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. This was stated by 24News.am governor of Gegharkunik region Gnel Sanosyan.
The border guards will have to be placed on the border section in the Gegharkunik region, after which the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan will have to withdraw from the state border line.
According to the governor of the region, the deployment of Russian border guards will happen “in a few days”.
Gegharkunik region is one of the largest regions of Armenia, and it has a border with neighboring Azerbaijan. The deployment of Russian border guards in the area from Sotk to Khoznavar (Syunik region of Armenia) was previously announced by acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, speaking to the voters of Gegharkunik region.
