Germany and NATO are afraid of a war with Russia. This opinion was expressed by the Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine Anka Feldguzen in an interview with the publication “Mirror of the Week”. The German diplomat stressed that it is the prospect of an armed clash with Moscow that will be the main obstacle to Ukraine’s accession to NATO for a long time. At the same time, in fairness, the ambassador added that the Alliance has always had problems with those states where there is a war.
Feldguzen called any statements that in the absence of gas transit through the territory of Ukraine, Russia will start active hostilities there, speculation. However, according to the diplomat, it is impossible not to take into account the point of view of the five states. Not only Ukraine, but also Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia called the Nord Stream-2 a threat to national security.
This project is a two-line pipeline. The total capacity is 55 billion cubic meters. Germany is interested in the project. But the United States is against it. The transoceanic neighbor wants to supply energy carriers to the territory of Western Europe itself.
