“It’s a pity that we have to resort to such measures to protect the historical truth”
The law on the prohibition of public identification of the role of the USSR and Nazi Germany in the Second World War has come into effect. Head of State Vladimir Putin signed the law on July 1. The amendments were made to the resolution “On perpetuating the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”. The document can be found on the Internet portal of legal information.

Thus, a rule of law has been introduced that prohibits identifying the goals, decisions and actions of the leadership of the USSR, the command and military personnel of the USSR with the goals, decisions and actions of the leadership of Nazi Germany, the command and military personnel of the Third Reich and the European Axis countries (Berlin—Rome—Tokyo) in public speeches or in publicly displayed works, as well as in the media and the Internet.
Why such a law became necessary, “MK” was told by the chairman of the presidium of the All-Russian organization “Officers of Russia”, Hero of the Russian Federation Major General Sergey Lipovoy:
— It is a pity, of course, that in order to preserve for posterity the memory of the unprecedented feat of the Soviet people, we have to resort to such measures. But in the light of recent events in the world, in the light of how historical facts are distorted, this is our direct responsibility. This is a duty to those who gave their health, youth, and life, saving not only the Soviet Union, but also the whole world from fascism. As long as we remember our history, we will not allow the repetition of these terrible events.
According to Sergei Lipovoy, ” the roles of the USSR and Germany in the Second World War are incompatible.”
– Their identification is impossible and unacceptable — – said the leader of the “Officers of Russia”. – Therefore, the law banning all this is relevant. Unfortunately, almost a century has passed since the worst military disaster in world history, and not everyone knows the details of the confrontation between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. They do not understand the importance of the Victory won by our country and what a terrible price it paid for it. There are those who, criticizing the decisions of the Soviet military leaders of those times, devalue their contribution to the Victory, exposing it almost as an accidental phenomenon.
