In the United States, a resident of the state of Oklahoma was detained on charges of sending messages threatening to kill President Joe Biden, members of Congress and members of their families. This was reported to the press by the US Department of Justice.
The threat was 58-year-old John Ahrens. From May to June 2021, he sent messages to the regional TV channel KOTV (Newson6). In the letters, he declared his readiness to kill the president, congressmen and their relatives if he did not pay compensation.
A report on the US Department of Justice website says that threats to officials online also have consequences. At the same time, the arrest and arraignment are only the beginning of further bringing Ahrens to justice for his actions.
