In the Republic of Belarus, given the level of development of defense technologies, they do not yet need to deploy Russian military bases on their territory. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei.
He also stressed that talks about the relevance of the deployment of Russian bases in the republic due to the military buildup of NATO near the borders have been going on for a long time, however, he noted that no one knows what may happen in the future, but at the same time the unpredictability of partners cannot be excluded.
“But at the moment, taking into account the high level of military technology that has been achieved today, I think there is not much point in deploying additional foreign, in this case Russian military bases on the territory of Belarus,” the Belarusian diplomat said.
Makei noted that it would be enough to place Russian military bases in the Smolensk region, rather than doing it on the territory of Belarus.
