The co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany party, Tino Krupalla, appreciated the idea of paying compensation to Ukraine after the launch of the Nord Stream – 2 gas pipeline.
“If Russia uses other transit routes, then, of course, it should no longer pay any transit fees,” the politician stressed.
At the same time, Krupalla added, even the idea that “a country that no longer provides transit” should be compensated is “real madness”. This is unacceptable, in his opinion, “from a purely economic point of view.”
The leader of the German party said that he could not imagine that Russia “could or should have paid them.”
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmitry Kuleba said that Kiev is ready to consider the possibility of negotiations on “compensation” in the event of the launch of the Russian gas pipeline.
