The head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, during a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, called on Baku to observe the ceasefire with Armenia.
“Attention was focused on Azerbaijan’s compliance with the established ceasefire regime, Blinken called for the withdrawal of troops and the start of the process of resolving all outstanding issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement.
In September, the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia again clashed with the use of artillery and unmanned vehicles. Yerevan and Baku blamed each other for the incident. The total number of deaths exceeded 200 people.
