Two countries of the European Union opposed the ceiling of prices for Russian oil. Bloomberg writes about this with reference to sources.

According to the publication, Hungary and Cyprus did not agree with the proposal to set the maximum price under the new package of sanctions.

One of the sources noted that Cyprus, Greece and Malta also benefit from the transportation of Russian oil. They may try to protect their economies from new restrictions.

There are also countries that receive benefits for oil coming through their pipelines. They intend to get guarantees that nothing will change for them.

Recall that in the EU, the principle of unanimity applies in matters of decision-making on foreign policy, that is, all initiatives must be approved by all participating countries for entry into force.
