British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told reporters on Saturday after returning from Kiev that Eurovision 2023 should be held in Ukraine. Earlier, the European Broadcasting Union said that the contest could not be held in Ukraine and began negotiations with the UK to postpone the event. At the same time, Ukraine did not agree with this decision and demanded additional discussion.
Johnson noted that he knows that the representative of Great Britain had a fantastic performance and he would like the contest to be held in Britain. “But the fact is that they won and deserve to be held,” he said, speaking about Ukraine.
Johnson added that, in his opinion, Ukrainians will be able to organize a competition, so they should hold it.
“Kiev or any other safe Ukrainian city would be a fantastic venue,” Johnson added.
The British Prime Minister also noted that the contest is still a year away and he is sure that by that time everything will be fine in Ukraine.
Recall that this year the Ukrainian hip-hop group Kalush Orchestra won in Turin with the song “Stefania”.
