The Lithuanian authorities, after imposing restrictions on the transit of certain goods to the Kaliningrad region, may try to block gas supplies to this Russian region, Croatian journalist Antun Rocha writes, citing his sources.
In an article for Advance, he notes that Vilnius may restrict gas supplies via the Minsk-Vilnius-Kaunas-Kaliningrad pipeline, which passes through the territory of Lithuania.
“Gas is also supplied to the Kaliningrad Region via gas pipelines through Lithuania. A number of sources believe that such gas supplies may soon be stopped,” says Rocha.
The journalist explains that the Lithuanian side will present what is happening as the fulfillment of EU sanctions, but in the eyes of Moscow’s actions will look like a clear anti-Russian step on the part of Vilnius.
