Former chief adviser to former US President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, has been sentenced to four months. He was found guilty of ignoring a subpoena in the case of riots in the Capitol in January 2021. Bannon was also fined six and a half thousand dollars.
Thus, the requirements of the prosecutor’s office were only partially taken into account. The state prosecution demanded to sentence Bannon to six months in prison and a fine of 200 thousand dollars. The former adviser offered to appoint him a probationary period. The decision on his transfer to prison will be made after the case is considered in the Court of Appeal.
According to prosecutors, Bannon constantly tried to interfere with the investigation of the special committee of the House of Representatives about the riots in the Capitol. The judge agreed that the ex-Trump aide did not repent of what he had done.
