The Russian Defense Ministry has officially confirmed the appointment of General Sergei Surovikin to the post of commander of the joint group in the zone of the special military operation (SVO).
“By the decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Sergei Surovikin was appointed commander of the joint grouping of troops (forces) in the area of a special military operation,” RBC quotes the order.
The other day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the commander of the Central Military District, Alexander Lapin, and the Commander of the Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, made proposals for the development of their offensive tasks.
