Germany, France and Poland should unite to confront Russia, according to the leading politician of the German opposition CDU party, Bundestag deputy Wolfgang Schaeuble.
His article published in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung claims that Moscow is “waging war against the free democratic order of Europe” and sees threats from the European Union.
Schaeuble is sure that in this situation Germany, France, Poland should take a leading role and become the core of the European defense community. According to him, Berlin, Paris and Warsaw will be able to develop common directions of military policy, and then other EU member states will be able to join it.
Continuing the thought, the deputy writes that these three countries will be able to quickly unite their national armed forces into one army and make joint decisions for it. In his opinion, there are no other options.
In September, President Vladimir Putin, in an address to the Russians, said that the West had crossed every line in its anti-Russian policy, as well as constant threats against Russia. According to him, nuclear blackmail and the use of weapons of mass destruction against Moscow were used by the West. He reminded the West that Russia surpasses foreign military equipment in a number of components, and warned those trying to blackmail with nuclear weapons that the wind rose could turn in their direction.
