According to Spiegel, Saxon politician Frank Richter accused residents of East Germany of supporting Russia’s special operation in Ukraine.

“Many people in the east of the republic, apparently, look at Russia differently than most residents of the west of the country. There is no shortage of public demonstrations of sympathy for Moscow on the streets and squares in the East,” the politician said.

Richter added that in the East, German flags are flying next to Russian ones, cars with Ukrainian license plates are scratched, and the letter Z. is often cut out on them.
