Czech journalist Adam Cherny has proposed a way to save Ukraine from economic collapse in the event of the launch of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. He published his ideas on the iRozhlas portal.
According to the observer, it is not necessary to prohibit the construction of the pipeline: this could result in multibillion-dollar lawsuits for Europe. But European countries can establish strict rules for the operation of the Nord Stream-2 .
According to Cherna, these conditions will prevent a situation in which Russia will be able to use the Nord Stream-2 as a lever of pressure on Ukraine. In addition, he believes that Germany should work on the program of energy independence of Ukraine.
Earlier, Bundestag deputy Tino Krupalla reacted to the idea of compensating Ukraine for the launch of Nord Stream-2. In his opinion, Russia is not obliged to pay anything to a state that is not involved in transit. He called the demands of Kiev madness.
On June 10, the operator of the Nord Stream-2 project announced that the construction of the first line of the gas pipeline was completed. The sections laid from Russia and Germany were connected to each other. Pipe-laying works are still continuing on the second line.
