The RIA Novosti news agency drew attention to the discussion by readers of the German newspaper Die Welt of President Zelensky’s appeal to Western countries with another request to provide more air defense systems and missiles. The President of Ukraine reinforced his request with a reminder that such supplies would be in the interests not only of Ukraine, but of the whole world.
The audience, first of all, paid attention to the change in the tone of the address.
“Is he asking? Usually he always demands, is he ill?”— said one of the participants in the discussion, who noted the change. Others also, though less sarcastically, expressed a similar thought: “This time a pleading, not a threatening statement from Zelensky. How about negotiations?”.
Some of the commentators also noted the wording used to designate the addressees of the appeal. “When was Ukraine admitted to NATO in the last few hours? Or do I misunderstand the word “ally?” – said another attentive listener to the appeals of the Kiev leadership.
