Japan has decided to maintain sanctions against Russia

The Japanese government plans to maintain sanctions against the Russian Federation in connection with its activities in Ukraine. This statement was made by the Secretary General of the Japanese Cabinet of Ministers Hirokazu Matsuno, NHK reports.

Tokyo will cooperate with G7 members and other states to support Kiev and put pressure on Moscow. Matsuno stressed that Japan respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Earlier, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, during a meeting of the secretaries of the SCO security councils, held in Tashkent, assessed the new trend in relations between Russia and Japan. Patrushev noted that “Japan is trying its best to become the leader of the “world movement of Russophobes”.
