Aidos Sarym, a member of the Defense and Security Committee of the Majilis of Kazakhstan, said that Kazakhstan is not interested in sending military personnel to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict zone after Yerevan requested military assistance from the CSTO
“It is clear that in the situation of conflict with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan is in no way interested in sending troops there,” Sarym said in an interview with the Moscow Says radio station.
He explained that Kazakhstan cannot support Armenia to the detriment of relations with Azerbaijan, because a very close people live there, with whom there is a huge trade turnover and there are very big plans. According to him, public opinion in Kazakhstan is more inclined to support Azerbaijan.
At the same time, he denied the publications that Kazakhstan plans to suspend its membership in the CSTO because of this situation.
“There were no such rumors, let alone discussions,” Sarym stressed, adding that Kazakhstan’s position does not provide for withdrawal and suspension of membership in the CSTO.
