Russia’s partners in the CIS do not ask questions about new regions of Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on the sidelines of the CIS summit held in Astana.
In an interview with Channel One, Lavrov answered a question about a possible discussion with partners about the entry of new territories into the Russian Federation. According to him, Russia’s CIS partners were informed in advance.
“No questions are asked. Everyone understands that this is an objective reality,” Lavrov said.
Referendums on joining Russia were held in the above regions from September 23 to 27. In the DPR, 99.23% of those who voted for joining the Russian Federation, in the LPR – 98.42%, in the Kherson region – 87.05%, in the Zaporozhye region – 93.11%. On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the accession of regions to Russia and the formation of the Russian Federation new subjects.
