Statements by British Prime Minister Liz Truss about the intention to increase sanctions pressure on Russia caused outrage among British Twitter users, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier on Twitter, Truss announced that she was ready to impose new sanctions without hesitation in order to “paralyze Putin’s military machine.”

A number of users of the social network appealed to the Prime Minister with a request to end spending on Ukraine and focus on the needs of their own population. Truss was also accused of not representing the interests of the British, not voicing the position of the majority of the population and not interested in their opinion, and now putting it in danger.

Other users urged Truss to “do something for the British.” Some users noted that sanctions against Russia are more harmful to Britain, and called for negotiations. One of the Britons stressed that every “tweet” of the Trails is dedicated to Ukraine, and asked if the British Prime Minister was working for Kiev.

As previously reported, in the UK, it is planned to increase the maximum amount of electricity bills for consumers by 80% from October 1, that is, another 1,578 pounds will be added to the current tariffs of 1,971 pounds. This decision is due to the global increase in energy prices. As stated in the British energy regulator, this is not the limit, and electricity prices are likely to continue to grow. The authorities expect riots among the population due to rising electricity prices, and are preparing to suppress possible riots.
