The press service of the office of the Head of the Ukrainian state reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Earlier it was reported that Angela Merkel called Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom she discussed his summit with US President Joe Biden.
“The Federal Chancellor invited the head of the Ukrainian state to pay a visit to Berlin in the near future,” the statement reads. It is noted that during this visit, issues of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Germany and the process of peaceful settlement in the Donbas will be discussed.
At the same time, Zelensky invited Merkel to visit Ukraine in August to participate in the inaugural summit of the “Crimean Platform” and events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the country’s independence.
