NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that if nuclear weapons are used in Ukraine, the nature of the conflict will change. This is reported by NBC.
According to him, the very arguments about the possibility of using nuclear weapons are dangerous and irresponsible. He added that it was for this reason that the alliance clearly conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin that “any use of nuclear weapons will have severe consequences for Russia.” He concluded that a nuclear war should never be unleashed.
Earlier, the Washington Post, citing a senior researcher at the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London, Franz-Stefan Gadi, reported that the threat of a nuclear conflict has now become the most obvious since the end of the Cold War.
According to the expert, from a purely military point of view, nuclear weapons will not help Russia solve its tasks, and will not change the operational situation. Instead, it will cause the opposite effect, which “will double the support of the West, and I think there will be a response in the United States.”
