The presidents of nine European countries support Ukraine’s possible accession to NATO. The intentions are reported by the press service of the head of Romania Klaus Iohannis.
The joint statement of the leaders notes that “the presidents of the Central and Eastern European states firmly support the decision of the NATO summit in Bucharest” on the “future accession of Ukraine.”
The document was signed by the Presidents of the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland and Romania.
Ukraine’s inclusion in the North Atlantic Bloc requires the approval of all 30 members of the alliance. At the moment, 10 states are known to be approved in the public field: the above have been added to Canada, which previously indicated preliminary consent.
