Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in his microblog on Twitter ridiculed the idea of European Commission officials to introduce a price ceiling for gas from Russia.

“The proposal of the European Commission on the gas price ceiling is like coming to a bar and telling the bartender that you want to pay half the cost of your beer,” the head of the Hungarian cabinet wrote.

According to him, such “regulation” of prices is simply unrealistic.

“Consumers cannot lower energy prices. Only diversification and competition can,” Orban added.
