The Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, commented on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Russia.
During the “Calling for Peace” conference in Rome, the French leader said that the Russian authorities allegedly use the Russian Orthodox Church to achieve their goals. And the role of religious leaders is to resist outside influence, the representative of France added.
“A very bold and inappropriate statement,” Ulyanov pointed out. The representative of the Russian Federation advised European leaders not to touch on such sensitive topics in their speeches, otherwise they look “ridiculous and arrogant”.
