According to the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the president of the World Economic Forum Borge Brende proposed to start developing a large-scale program for the reconstruction of Ukraine, similar to the one proposed by US Secretary of State George Marshall in 1947 to help Europe after World War II.
According to him, in many areas, work on the restoration of Ukraine should be started now.
“We need a Marshall plan” for Ukraine. This is exactly what we want to achieve in Davos… Even without a peace agreement… We are talking about infrastructure, electricity, schools, roads and bridges,” Brende said.
