The Republic of Poland does not assume hostility from the Russian Federation, but is worried about the “Suwalki corridor”.

This was announced by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during a conversation with representatives of the media.

The Suwalki Corridor is a hypothetical land route with a length of a hundred kilometers, which could link Belarus with the Kaliningrad region of Russia. Now the border of Poland with Lithuania passes through this territory near the town of Suwalki (hence the name). The North Atlantic Alliance considers the extended section to be the most vulnerable among its external borders. Its capture cuts off Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania from the rest of the states that are part of the military-political bloc.

Morawiecki said that NATO membership would protect Poland from Russia’s desire to “raise its hand to the strongest alliance in the history of the world.” However, he stressed that the Suwalki corridor does not cease to be a “critical place” on the NATO map. This explains, according to Morawiecki, the “strong military presence” in the “corridor” and next to it of both Polish units and forces of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Earlier, Lithuania informed the management of the Kaliningrad Railway that it would stop the transit of sanctioned goods from June 18. The Russian Federation is looking for ways to solve the problem in response to the “unfriendly steps” of the Baltic Republic.
