Law enforcement agencies of Latvia detained Vladimir Linderman, a public figure and publicist of the pro–Russian persuasion. This was reported by Sputnik.
According to sources, a lawyer went to Linderman. The reasons for the journalist’s detention have not yet been reported. Recently, Latvia has been tightening its policy towards Russian and Russian-language mass media. Thus, since the beginning of June 2022, broadcasting of Russian TV channels has been prohibited in the republic.
Vladimir Linderman is 63 years old, he is known in Latvia as a fighter for the rights of Russian-speaking citizens of the country since the mid-1990s. In particular, Linderman headed the party “For the Native language”.
