The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said that the use of the death penalty is not excluded in relation to foreign prisoners who fought in the Donbass on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for whom the first court hearing was held on August 15.
“These are the five people – from Croatia, Switzerland, Great Britain,” Pushilin said. “I wouldn’t rule out capital punishment.”
As stated earlier in the Supreme Court of the DPR, Swedish citizen Mathias Gustavsson, Croatian citizen Vekoslav Prebeg and British citizen John Harding were charged under articles of the local code “forcible seizure of power” and “participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict.” The latter also accuses Briton Andrew Hill, and his compatriot Dylan Hilli of “aiding and abetting the recruitment of mercenaries.”
