President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon asked Russian President Vladimir Putin not to treat the countries of Central Asia as the former USSR.

At the summit of the Council of CIS Heads of State, Rahmon, addressing the President of Russia, noted that Tajikistan has always treated the Russian Federation with respect. Calling our country the main strategic partner, the Tajik leader called for a symmetrical attitude.

The leader of Tajikistan quite emotionally asked that there be no policy towards the countries of Central Asia as the former Soviet Union. Each state has its own problems, questions, traditions and customs, Rahmon listed. He called for searching and finding a middle ground in cooperation with everyone and working with each of the countries separately.
