Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Andriy Vitrenko commented on the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to remove works of Russian and Soviet classics from the school curriculum.
“We need to throw away everything that connects us at least a little with the Russian Empire,” local media quoted the official as saying.
According to Vitrenko, it is necessary to “throw away everything that concerns the “sufferings of the Russian soul.”
He expressed the opinion that these books are “heavy works for Ukrainians,” because “we don’t need them at all.”
