The Security Service of Ukraine said that it had charged the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in absentia.
According to the statement of the special service, the Chechen leader is accused under articles of the Ukrainian Criminal Code on war crimes.
Charges were also brought by the SBU against Daniil Martynov, Kadyrov’s former assistant, deputy head of the Rosgvardiya Department for Chechnya. In early June, the media wrote that he could take the post of Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, later Martynov was appointed adviser to the head of the department.
Charges have also been brought against Hussein Mezhidov, the commander of the battalion “South”. About him, the Minister of Press and Information of Chechnya, Ahmed Dudayev, previously said that he “grew up next to the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, from an early age.”
