German Chancellor Olaf Scholz commented on the harsh statements of the Ambassador of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk, who called him an “offended liver sausage”. Scholz, we recall, was awarded such a remark because of his refusal to come to Kiev as a solidarity with the President of Germany Frank Walter Steinmeier. He had previously said that the Ukrainian authorities did not invite him to visit, accusing him of having ties with Moscow.
In an interview with T-online, Scholz said that he was ready to let the public decide for themselves how to treat the words of the Ukrainian ambassador. He noted that in the current situation, words are by no means the most important.
“It is important to focus on the main thing,” we want to help Ukraine protect itself,” Scholz said.
He added that Berlin would like Moscow to withdraw troops from Ukraine and that it was for this that sanctions were imposed.
The statements of Ambassador Melnik had a great resonance in Germany and became the subject of publications in the media. The other day, the regional edition of Die Rheinpfalz told that the butcher Walter Adam from Herxheim-Landau decided to support the chancellor. He told reporters that he had sent a gift parcel with five types of liver sausage to Berlin, at the address of the Ukrainian embassy.
