Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrey Klimov said that some of the people who left the plant “Azovstal” can be released, writes URA.RU .
The senator explained that this could happen to civilians, as well as Ukrainian servicemen who have been tested for non-involvement in war crimes.
Those who ended up on “Azovstal” by coincidence,” Klimov said, “if they do not belong to the military,”they will be released. They “can follow wherever they see fit”.
However, the politician expressed doubt, “that there will be many such”.
However, as he said, “recent cases have shown that civilians were coming out, who were used there as human shields.”
The release and exchange, according to Klimov, may also affect official Ukrainian servicemen, if they are not mercenaries, Nazis or war criminals, and “were in the active army” in accordance with their oath, without committing war crimes”.
Such, too, as the senator stated, “will have the opportunity to return to their families,” and some of them may fall under the exchange, since there are Russian servicemen who “turned out to be among the persons held by the Ukrainian side”
At the same time, Klimov stressed that the militants of “Azov” (recognized in Russia as extremist and banned. –«MK») no one is going to let go or exchange.
The investigation may appeal to the special services with a demand to extradite them for investigation and trial. The trials of war criminals, in his opinion, “should be open”, because “this is a very important preventive measure”, which should show that “any scoundrel should even be afraid to think about something bad about our country, people or allies».
