The scientific director of the Institute of Regional Problems Dmitry Zhuravlev assessed the consequences of massive strikes with precision weapons, which were inflicted by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Monday and Tuesday on military control facilities and power facilities in different regions of Ukraine.
“The blow to Ukraine’s energy system was comprehensive,” Zhuravlev said, adding that almost the whole of Ukraine had been hit.
He noted that there are no exact figures yet, but all experts assess the damage caused as colossal.
“According to open data, at least 8.22 GW of thermal power plants and thermal power plants have been affected in Ukraine,” Zhuravlev said.
He explained that in fact this means disabling about 30% of the thermal and 15% of the entire generation.
“This will lead to very serious consequences,” Zhuravlev believes.
Earlier it was reported that some Ukrainian enterprises have stopped, while others are limiting production in order to reduce energy consumption. In Kiev and the Kiev region, an hourly power outage is being introduced. Almost half of the trains are delayed.
