Downstream of the Dnieper, the discharge of water from the Kakhovsky reservoir began. This was announced by the head of the administration of the Novokakhovsky city district of the Kherson region, Vladimir Leontiev.

He explained that in this way it will be possible to reduce the level and volume of water, which will minimize damage in the event of the destruction of the hydroelectric power plant.

Nikolai Shadrin, a leading researcher at the Institute of Biology of the South Seas of the Russian Academy of Sciences, explained that a water breakthrough would lead to the appearance of a dead zone in the Black Sea and change the ecosystems of the region. Adjacent territories will be flooded, the soil layer and trees will be washed away.

“Chemicals can get into the reservoir stream somewhere, and all this will go to the Black Sea,” the biologist said.

He added that mud will start flowing into the North Crimean Canal, and then water will stop entering the canal at all.

Earlier, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia called for preventing the Kiev regime from undermining the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam. This provocation will lead to the death of thousands of people.
