Sergei Belyaev, director of the second European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the implementation of the idea of the future British Prime Minister Liz Truss on the withdrawal of frozen assets of Russia could lead to instability and capital flight from Britain.
Earlier, British Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who will become Prime Minister of the kingdom today, said that representatives of England are considering the possibility of confiscating frozen assets of Russia and transferring them to Ukraine.
“The lack of legal grounds for such actions has already been recognized by British lawyers. Among other things, the disastrous consequences of the withdrawal of Russian assets will come for the status of the UK as an international financial center, and for the reputation. There may be a flight of foreign investors from the British jurisdiction,” Belyaev said.
He clarified that such a policy for its initiators could result in mass protests, social explosion and instability in the kingdom.
