The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, rejoiced at the restoration of backup power supply at the Zaporozhye NPP. The head of the agency also noted the super-efforts of the employees of the nuclear power plant. “Working in very difficult conditions, the operational staff of the Zaporizhia NPP is doing everything possible to strengthen the fragile situation with energy supply outside the site,” Grossi said. Earlier, he also stated. that intensive negotiations with Russia and Ukraine allowed us to get closer to the creation of a protective zone at the Zaporozhye NPP.
The NPP came under Russian control on February 28. Despite the constant shelling, the station continued to operate as usual. In early September, Rafael Grossi visited the NPP together with the MAGATE delegation. Later, the agency published an inspection report and called for organizing a safety zone around the station in order to avoid emergencies due to shelling.
