The Iomiuri newspaper reported that Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi did not comment on the statement of the Russian side about Ukraine’s intention to use a “dirty bomb”.
Answering a question from journalists, he said that “the UK, France and the USA have reported that such accusations from Russia are false and should be rejected.”
“We do not rule out that the Russian side will try to use this as an excuse for further escalation of the situation. At the same time, I want to refrain from any preliminary assessments of this,” Hayashi said.
He clarified that Japan will continue to closely monitor the development of the situation in Ukraine.
