The Russian Defense Ministry has transferred 25 tons of medical oxygen to civilian medical institutions. This decision was made by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in response to appeals from the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in which hospitals are experiencing a shortage of oxygen necessary for the operation of artificial ventilation devices.

For the production of liquid oxygen, the production capabilities of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation are used. Military airfields are equipped with automobile oxygen-producing stations designed to obtain liquid and gaseous oxygen of medical quality from atmospheric air in the field.

Oxygen is used in the on-board systems of airline complexes in the oxygen system of the aircraft and is intended to ensure the normal life of the crew, including when performing high-altitude flights and ejection.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the transfer of oxygen to civilian medical institutions will not affect the combat readiness of military aircraft.
