Russia demands a comprehensive and objective study of the circumstances of the attacks on the “Northern Streams”. This is stated in the telegram channel of the Russian Embassy in Washington.
The Prosecutor General’s Office earlier initiated a case on an act of international terrorism due to damage to pipelines.
“For our part, we insist on the need for a comprehensive and objective study of the circumstances of the unprecedented attacks on Russian pipelines. To discuss this issue, the Russian Federation is convening an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council,” the message reads.
They also pointed to the “activity of US warships” near the site of the explosion and the flights of drones and helicopters. The embassy also said that trade between Russia and Europe, which has been developing for decades, “has long turned into an eyesore for Washington strategists.”
Recall that leaks in gas pipelines were found in Swedish and Danish waters near the island of Bornholm. Navigation had to be restricted in these areas. The Danish authorities have not ruled out that this is the result of sabotage.
The Sky News channel, citing a source in the UK Ministry of Defense, reported that the incidents on the “Northern Streams” could have occurred due to an attack using underwater explosive devices activated remotely.
