The Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group has extended the truce with the Pakistani authorities

The Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP 9, banned in the Russian Federation) extended the truce with the Pakistani authorities to hold peace talks with Islamabad. Initially, the suspension of hostilities was planned for ten days to celebrate the end of Ramadan and was supposed to expire on May 11.

However, the new decision extended the truce until May 16. On May 7, 2022, one of the tribes of Waziristan gathered a negotiating committee to reconcile the authorities of Pakistan and the TTP.

In addition, representatives of Islamabad held a series of meetings with the leadership of the TTP in Afghanistan. Nothing is known about the terms of the truce.

In 2021, Pakistan and the TPP already tried to negotiate peace, but then they failed to reach an agreement. A new attempt was made after the removal from power of the former Prime Minister of the country Imran Khan.
