The member states of the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a resolution on the non-recognition of referendums on the accession of the Donetsk, Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to the Russian Federation.
143 states voted for this anti-Russian document, 5 against it, and 35 abstained.
It should be noted that Russia, Belarus, Nicaragua, North Korea and Syria themselves spoke out against the resolution.
China, India, Pakistan, South Africa and most CIS countries abstained.
“The UN General Assembly does not recognize referendums in the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine. We call on all countries, international organizations and specialized UN structures not to recognize the change in the status of these regions”, – the adopted document says.
