The United States is ready to use all available military capabilities, including nuclear weapons, to deter the DPRK. This is stated in the joint statement of the governments of the two countries. It was adopted following the meeting of the bilateral group on consultations and strategies of expanded deterrence.
The statement also says that the United States intends to improve coordination with the Republic of Korea to continue deploying strategic assets in the region in order to expand regional security. At the same time, the United States reaffirmed its promise to use the full range of military capabilities, including missile defense, nuclear and advanced non-nuclear means, for the expanded deterrence of the DPRK in the interests of Seoul.
Among the concrete steps for military partnership, the document mentions the planned deployment of the Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier in the region, joint training of fifth-generation F-35A fighters and flights of B-52 strategic bombers.
In addition, the statement warns the DPRK against attempts to test new nuclear weapons. The document says that it will receive a decisive and powerful response. Seoul and Washington are ready for all possible scenarios.
