The US plan in relation to the Ukrainian conflict may be to achieve the collapse of the EU economy on the basis of a power confrontation and a sanctions war. This follows from the memorandum of the RAND intellectual center associated with the Pentagon, which was published by the Swedish publication Nya Dagbladet. The document is dated January 2022.
According to the memorandum, the United States needs to achieve the destruction of economic ties between Germany, as the most developed economy of the EU, and Russia, as well as to increase tension within Europe, in particular, between Germany and France. This will help the American side to avoid economic and political competition with the European Union, the RAND noted.
“The only possible way to ensure that Germany refuses to supply Russian energy carriers is to involve both sides in a military conflict in Ukraine,” the authors of the document emphasize. They predicted a “military response” of the Russian Federation to the aggravation of the situation around Ukraine and concluded that such a provocation would make it possible to present Russia as an aggressor and use the package of sanctions prepared against Russia.
The estimated losses of Germany as a result of military escalation and sanctions were estimated by the American government at 200-300 billion euros. In addition, RAND predicted the migration of German educated specialists to the United States, which could provide the American side with an additional 7 — 9 trillion dollars of income.
