Control over the Kabul airport after the departure of the US military contingent from Afghanistan will be transferred to the “Afghan people,” said US State Department spokesman Ned Price.
“After leaving, we will hand over the airport to the Afghan people,” the spokesman said.
At the same time, he did not specify who in the United States he means by representatives of this “people”. According to him, by the end of the day on August 31, “there will be no American military in Afghanistan.”
Earlier, White House press Secretary Jen Psaki said that Washington will not abandon plans to complete its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan by the end of August.
At the same time, representatives of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) ask the United States to maintain its diplomatic presence in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the military from the country.
